Elaine Mae Rhodes

Elaine Mae Rhodes, 88, of Beloit, WI, a former resident of Janesville, WI died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Riverside Terrace in Beloit where she had made her home since 2006. Elaine was born on May 13, 1922, in Rhinelander, WI, the daughter of Albert Petersen and Carrie (Peterson) Petersen. She graduated from Rhinelander High School. She married Harold J. Rhodes on November 28, 1942. In addition to being a homemaker, Elaine was a saleswoman and for a time operated an H & R Block tax office in Cadott, WI. After moving to Janesville, she and Harold became members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Elaine enjoyed and was talented at crocheting, writing poetry, entertaining and she was a wonderful cook.

Survivors include 3 children, Gary (Emma) Rhodes of Deer Park IL, Donna (Martin) Zais of Delavan, WI, Mary Anne (David) Crenshaw of Eureka, IL, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 sister, Irene Anderson of Kenosha, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Rhodes on October 7, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 8 brothers.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday morning, May 25 in the chapel at Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville. Entombment will be in the Milton Lawns Mausoleum. Assisting the family is Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. www.henkeclarson.com.
